Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
Welcome to Beerware. By downloading, installing, or using the Beerware mobile application ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Beerware. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. The App relates to alcohol and is not intended for anyone under the legal drinking age in the United Kingdom.
2. Your Account
To use certain features, you must create an account with a valid email address and username. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Acceptable Use
When using Beerware, you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or offensive content (including pub reports, ratings, or drink information).
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users.
- Attempt to manipulate ratings, confirmations, or leaderboard rankings.
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access or collect data from the App.
4. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of content you submit (ratings, drink reports, pub submissions). However, by submitting content you grant Beerware a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, display, and distribute that content within the App and related services.
We may remove any content that violates these Terms or is reported by other users, at our sole discretion.
5. Pub Data
Pub location data is sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of pub information. Pubs may have closed, moved, or changed since the data was last updated.
6. Drink Information
Drink availability, pricing, and other details are reported by users and may not be accurate or up to date. Beerware does not verify drink information and accepts no liability for incorrect listings. Always confirm with the pub directly.
7. Responsible Drinking
Beerware encourages responsible alcohol consumption. The App is a discovery tool, not an encouragement to drink. For information and support, visit drinkaware.co.uk.
8. Intellectual Property
The Beerware name, logo, design, and code are the property of Beerware and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not use our branding or materials without prior written permission.
9. Availability & Changes
We aim to keep Beerware available and functional, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time without notice. We reserve the right to update these Terms, and continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Limitation of Liability
Beerware is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Inaccurate pub or drink information.
- Loss of data or account access.
- Third-party actions or content.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
